Utthan Samiti, Shree Yamuna Seva Samiti and Unnati recently organized “YAMUNA MAHOTSAV” at Yamuna Aarti Ghat, Dhai Puushta, Soniya Vihar, Delhi. A series of activities were a part of this event. The evening started with plantation of several Ashoka Trees. This was followed by the cleanliness drive of the banks of the Yamuna by the volunteers of both the organizations who were joined by a large number of local residents which also included youth from different age groups.This was followed by Nukkad Natak on the subjects of Female Foeticide and Yamuna Safai by the Black Pearl Arts Group. The audience enjoyed and also interacted a lot during these two presentations. The audience present applauded the presentations and the idea behind it.Renowned exponent Ms Namrrta Raai then presented different devotional pieces on Bhajans. She was accompanied by internationally acclaimed Tabla maestro Pt Udhai Mazumdar, Rupesh Pathak on vocals and Harmonium, Nikhil Das on flute and Anand Mishra on Sitar.The evening ended with the Maha Aarti of the Yamuna river where every one including the Chief Guest Sh Kapil Mishra (Minister of tourism & Culture, Govt of Delhi), Dr Annapurna Mishra (Councilor), Sh Satendra Singh (Chairman, Utthan Samiti), Sh Dharmendra Gupta (General Secretary, Shree Yamuna Seva Samiti), Ms Namrrta Raai, Pt Udhai Mazumdar and others joined in.“The Yamuna River needs to be celebrated to create awareness amongst people and doing such varied activities is the best way to do so and the enthusiasm shown by the residents is a very positive sign”, said Sh Satendra Singh, Chairman, Utthan Samiti on this occasion.
